Each element has its own agent, and there are relics that complement them too, like Yuna's Storybook, Pop-up Primer, and Vampire Cookbook (if I'm remembering their names correctly). Basically they summon a minion that attacks enemies for you. Other 'homing' spells that you can use are agents, but they're not signature arcana (except Chaos agent, which is also a signature).

But, I would recommend that you unlock other standard arcana (the ones that cost 25 gems), relics and outfit first, since the bosses will drop a signature arcana upon defeat. Homing Flare is more direct but wears off quickly, Dragon Surge is more indirect but the dragons stay on screen longer. I would like something with a homing ability (for my signature slot) that deals decent damage. So far I've only managed to take down one single boss (The Wind Guy) and only because I got superlucky with some sort of Gift that had two spells fire/air that did pretty much the same (upwards-jumping while unleashing a tornado of below for lots of hits). I also keep using Flamedart over every Basic Attack i acquired so far, my starting item is 'Flak Gauntlet' 95% of the time. So far i found a great number of Arcana to be a bit useless to put it bluntly. Hey y'all just a couple of hours in and trying some things here and there.
